Fionia Cup

This past week we have been camping at a weeklong agility show on Fyn in the town of Ringe. I shared a caravan with a friend (Jeanette) who breeds shelties with her family. After we set up the caravan and fencing I mentioned that all we were missing was a gate – and guess what arrived on Tuesday – as if by some miracle – A GATE J Thanks Niels. Apart from being really practical for getting dogs in and out – The Gate served as a conversational ice breaker J I met a lot of new agility friends over midnight conversations by The Gate J

Anyhow. We had a great week!!! If it had not been for Marianne we would have starved ( well probably not, but our meals would not have been too nutritional ). I worked as a ringleader and shared my ring with Bent. Bent has exceptional people skills and best of all he can put up with sharing a ring with me all week J

I ran One and Tazz. Tazz had a senior run every day ( won 4 out of 5 runs ). One did really well but we either had an E or a pole down – until the last day were we finished the week of with a great Class 1 jumping and our 2nd leg and a 4th place. Earlier during the week we had a 3rd but that was with a pole down. J On the final day I borrowed Monty for a run - and got a 2nd in a strong jumping class 3. Spooky ran with Birgit all week – they had some fabulous runs – but Spooky can be bit of a noodle and sometimes has selective hearing – his best result was a 7th in a class of about 80 dogs.

We went to see the new Harry Potter. Apart from the fact that I had to cough every time there was an action scene, the movie was excellent. I have just bought the new book but that will have to wait until I am on vacation next time J Tuesday I ended up going to the doctors about my flu. Turns out I had pneumonia so it was a good thing I got that done J

I think one of the best things about that week was that I met Soda's sister Effie. Effie is deaf but you can't tell. She is so balanced and at ease with everything – she has great body language and played well with Soda. Unfortunately it was very hot the day they were there so they couldn't play too much…

On the first Sunday I drove over to see Monty's puppies – they were just 3 weeks at the time. Very cute! They are all going to agility/performance homes which I am thrilled about.

Soda is coming along nicely – she is quite bright and so far has the following tricks in her repertoire – without begging or luring: sit, down, elephant, left, right, touch, target, shake, tap, both, feet up, say your prayers, get it, no (J), hoop, through, under, (re)verse, pole. She also knows the word off, but usually that involves me pushing her grubby feet off something so I don't count that as something she has learnt – she is usually quite selective as to when she choses to perform her "off" on cue J

You didn't use your own caravan?
Looking forward to seeing you soon over here in the UK. Get to meet One at last too :)
