More teaching...

I have done a 2 session class for Kreds 1 in the Danish Kennel Club for juniors ( kids ). I planned the class as a tricks/motivational training class and it went down really well. A great enthusiastic group of students.

In the middle of August I was invited to teach for the Kennel Clubs trainers seminar. It was kind of like Clean Run - where they could choose elective classes. I taught 2 sessions of ring craft/hadling and 3 sessions of puppy motivation. As I didnt have a puppy for show'n'tell I borrowed a collie pup called Justin from a local breeder and trained him for 14 days prior to this show.

First of all I need to stamp out a myth - collies are NOT blonde and stupid. They are actually WAY easier to train than any dog I have ever had - the only thing I cant deal with is their yippy barking - it goes right down your spinal chord :o) Justin was a star - and he really helped get my point across in the lessons - he did all his tricks only on verbal cues and without food luring - and he would work for anyone. He was cool :o)

The seminar was set in a beautiful location and althought the weather was iffy it held out - but
that wasnt a worry for me as I was teaching in a gym hall :o) Cardboard boxes + rain = paper maché !!!!

We could not do any of the other electives ( as we were teaching ) but we could attend the lectures. I only saw one of the lectures unfortunately as I was sooooo tired the 2nd day thet I opted to take a nap when I had the chance of hearing one of the lectures I really wanted to go to.

The coolest part was actually being invited to teach there :o)
