I had entered 2 Freestyle shows in Sweden during the weekend. Wednesday I realised how far north the one show was and I had to cancel my Friday evening classes - otherwise there was no way I could get up to the show on time. After packing the car I set up north just after 7 pm and landed at the venue 3 am. I slept in the car - Trouble thought this was great as he used me as his personal pillow throughout the night...
I set up my tent - thankfully - as it rained, thundered and stormed most of the day. What a shame for the organisers - other than the weather, the show was great :-D
But what a day!!!!! Trouble got out of his crate and ate a whole package of sausages. 500 grams is a lot in a little shelties tummy!!!! Needless to say he wasnt really motivated to do anything workwise... Spooky opened his crate more forcefully later on during the day ( will need a repair job unfortunately ). Soda's first routine was full of mistakes so I turned it into a training round quite quickly - she seemed a bit "offline". In her routine, which was the qualifying class for the Agria Elite Challenge she started really well - but the connection didn't last - and she was refusing to do moves she always has loved - she wouldn't open the box or do sequences in the middle of the routine. I decided to keep her going as best possible. She finished 2nd but I wans't happy about the way she had been working...
I packed everything into the car - soaking wet :-/ I had 3 hours drive to the new venue sp plenty of time to analyse what had happened with Soda. I decided that my next day competition round would be training. I would do what I normally did at a competition - no attention for my dogs - minimial warmup time and off we go. I was happy with that strategy :-DI arrived at the new venue which was also a breed show. As I had promised to help judging I was given a room on site :-D The venue was beautiful and there was a nice walk - I opted to wait with that until the next day as it started raining heavily again. 8.30 pm I was in bed. For the next 4 hours, in one of the other rooms, a dog barked CONSTANTLY. The same dog ( I assume ) barked again from 5.30 the next morning until I got out of bed at 7.30....
It rained parts of the day which was a shame for the competitors and made judging difficult as the papers were flying everywhere and everything was wet.
I did a training round with Soda - and followed my usual routine for freestyle shows. And she was brilliant! So I concluded that from now on we are back to following the same procedures as usual!
