Up early ( again ) and had breakfast at the hotel diner. I had wisened up and asked for vegetarian breakfast so had fruit instead of the nondescript bacon I had been served the day before.
We had googled the NBC studios and set off to get our Jay Leno tickets. The studio was huge so it took a while to find the guest entry - but we got our tickets - it felt like finding one of Willy Wonka's tickets :-D We decided to drive into Hollywood again and see LA Ink from the inside. We had also spotted an agility training building so we figured we would try to find that again aswell.
We parked the car ( the cutest little parking meters ), had a look inside LA Ink - and then set off down the road.
We stopped for a coffee and internet at McD - then continued a couple of blocks and found the Zoom Room :-D It's an dog training franchise - where they offer basic obedience, agility, tricks and scentwork.
They were interested in telling us about the franchise and training - we were only interested in knowing if any famous people came there with their dogs....After a short stop there we jogged back to the car - we only had 2 hours of money in the machine.
We drove back to the NBC studios and found parking.
The tockets had stated a lot of rules about what we were allowed to bring in ( and more importantly what we were NOT allowed to bring in ). So we spent 15 minutes hiding our stuff in the car - only to find that it wasn't actually a problem to bring the stuff in :-/ So feeling a bit uneasy about leaving the stuff in the car I went back and got everything including cameras and phones.
We were given a white ticket with numers ( 280 something ) and we stood patiently waiting. The guy who had let us in came and exchanged our tickets for a brown set instead and, again another lucky day, we got in as some of the first into the studio - a brown ticket was apparently better than a white one :-D
No photoes in the studio :-( Jay Leno came out and explained how it all worked - how the show would be taped, who the guests were, etc. When he went to change a comedian came out and got everyone wound up, practising clapping and cheering. Then the band played ( they ROCKED!!!!! ) ....and suddenly it was 4 o'clock and they started taping the show. It was like being at a teenage DuranDuran or A-ha concert - we had a blast !!!!! I am not ashamed to say that our Jay Leno experience was right up there after Sea World, with the Clicker Expo a shaky 3rd place.
It was dark when we got out and I decided to find stamps for the postcards I had bought ( but not written ). Mr GPS found a postoffice ( and a psychics boudoir ) and we set off for the hotel.
Once back at the hotel I decided ( on a whim ) to go onto Delta's website and order vegetarian food for Kickan on the flight. Hmmmmm. Something wrong. We were booked home on the Thursday - but my confirmation said Wednesday.....????? I called Delta and they said the flight was cancelled and they couldnt help. Huh ???? I was told to contact our travel agent- but they didnt open for another 2 hours ( in Denmark ). So I logged onto Delta's site again - this time they gave me some options to rebook the flight. Over Paris via Air France. I think NOT. But there was a flight out of LAX 6.30 AM and it looked like they flight to Copenhagen would leave from JFK....hmmmmm.....so I called up Delta - and yes they could rebook our first flight. I knew I was taking a chance - because if the weather got worse the flight to Copenhagen wouldn't leave either.
We were up 4 hours later to go to the airport for 4.30. Security was a breeze and the flight left on time to JFK. There was a tonne of snow and most flights were cancelled - but luckily ours stayed on the screen and with a 3 hour delay the flight, and several de-icings later - and the flight took off. There was quite a bit of turbulence on the first part of the flight. The good thing was that the flight was almost empty due to many passengers not arriving in JFK on their connecting flights - so every passenger had a row of seats for themselves :-D Even though both Delta flights were old as the hills ( seriously old planes ) - the service was outstanding.
Arriving in Copenhagen I heard an announcement that there was something wrong with check-in and that SAS appologisied for any inconveniences. Arggghhhhh. Kickan had to travel on to Stockholm an hour later ! But apparently there is a Swedish rule that says if you can't hear what they say on the loudspeaker, it can't be something that affects you :-D By the time we got out through customs the backlog of checkins was almost gone and the wait was pretty short.
