Stensedals Twist'n'Shout 16/12/2000-11/12/2011
One evening just before I was going out to teach we got up from a nap and Spooky's legs basically gave away under him. A minute or two later he had recovered - but was tired. The next morning I got a vets appointment and we did a full check up and bloodwork. Nothing alarming - just a slightly low red blood cell count - and no infections. I was worried but Spooky was happy and back to his normal self. He has never been sick a day in his life so this was very unlike him.
Just before I went to the States - an hour before I was to drop him off at his sitter - his legs gave away again. I called Lone, and we went to Karlslunde Emergency hospital. After another full check up - nothing to find. Very frustrating. Lone took Spooky with her home and I set off for the States.
When I came home, Lone had taken Spooky to the vet as agreed for a follow up blood test. This time they discovered that the white blood cell count was high and he was treated with antibiotics. The tests for everything else under the sun came back clear. All seemed well.
I came home from the States and was to go to Norway the following weekend for the Nordic Championships. Soda came in season so I decided to take Spooky with me to Norway on our road trip. We had a great time and I was glad I had brought him along to keep Soda and I company.
The following week I was preparing for my Christmas holiday to Australia. A vet's appointment showed nothing to worry about.
On Sunday 11th of December Spooky collapsed when out in Lone's garden and passed away 10 minutes later. I knew instinctively when Lone called me that night in Australia that the news was not good. Thank you to Lone & Erik & IngeLise for all your help. And to Bernadette for being there.
Dearest Spooky Grey Dog - you will forever be in my heart.

Det er jeg ked af at høre. Det gør så ondt at miste og ikke mindre når de ikke er så gamle og man ikke ved hvorfor.
God rejse Spooky
Hvor er det trist. Det gør mig ondt at høre. Sikken et fantastisk liv du har givet ham. R.I.P Spooky
So sorry to hear this sudden news. I know he is one very special boy to you. It's must be hard when you are not there. Thinking of you. R.I.P Spooky x
