No final update on Crufts yet. I am getting there :o)
Earlier today I was working with Soda on one of her new tricks "Wall". I put my hand under her to try to pull her out of position to proof the trick ( she has to stand with her nose against a target on the wall, with her back to me - and change from sit to stand to sit etc ). Under my left hand was a lump ( on Soda ) basically where her hind leg meets her body :o( I called the vet where I usually go - and chatted with the receptionist. I decided to wait over the weekend. But a nagging feeling had me take her temp - 39,3 - not critical but not something you want to leave unattended. So I called the vet down the road and asked if I could bring her round ( my regular vet is a 30 minute drive from here ). After prodding poor Soda ( who was freaking out on the table - mental note - need to train on the grooming table ) the vet could not be 100 % conclusive whether or not the lump was related to Soda being in season ( hormonal ) but she got an antibiotic shot, and tablets for 5 days. Now 4 hours later the lump ( which is cylindrical and about 8-10 cm long ) is softer and the swelling has gotten less.
This weekend I have 2 training days. Tomorrow is for young dogs that have some clicker experience and Sunday is rally-0 for beginners. Both days are indoors on carpet !!! Soda is my demodog for tomorrow, luckily she is not influenced by whatever is happening to her right now.
