Free to a good home : an unwanted flu!!!!

Wednesday night I started feeling a bit "off" and agility was taught in a haze. Thursday I had basically gotten a full blown cold - sniffly, coughy and feeling not too good. Friday that definitely went down hill which was not really what I wanted. Saturday morning early I had to fly to Stockholm to do 2 presentations for the Swedish Kennel Club & Swedish Youth Kennle Club.

Saturday was an early morning start to the airport - luckily I had booked parking in advance so I had a reserved spot :o) I got to the gate and we were told they had brought in a new plane, ie. a COLD one that had been on the runway all night. Lucky me. The flight to Stockholm was good - I managed to sleep most of the way and was really relaxed on arrival. I took a taxi to the hotel/venue and we started with lunch, along with my good friends Yvonne, Rolf & Linda. I went up to my room after checking in, and while unloading baggage manged to leave my keycard on the table, with myself on the outside of the now locked door. Bummer! And as the elevators didnt work without keycards I had to patiently wait for someone to come along and activate the elevator. So I learned my keycard lesson then and there! I did my 2 x 2 hour presentations, sat through 2 other presentations and dinner, then had to crash. My lungs had given in from coughing and my nose was sore from sneezing. Charming, to say the least.

Sunday morning was pitiful as I couldnt enjoy the yummy breakfast at the hotel - no appetite :o(  I managed to dip my spoon in a freshfruit yoghurt but that was it. At the airport I found a Diners Club Lounge and got my free coffee ( woohooo ) and then they stuffed us all into a tiny plane for the ride home. Come on SAS - whats with you at the moment???? I saw the funniest thing at the carpark - one car had used a windowsunshade on the outside probably so he didnit have to scrape his window from ice - but it was pretty comical as the car was buried under a metre of snow :o) But hey, he wont have to scrape the front window!!!

The really positive thing about this weekend was there were about 50 participants at the weekends seminar, most of them members of SHU ( The Swedish Youth Kennel Club ). These young people have have such a passion - and loyalty to dogsports. They work hard and are committed. They dont just pay their membership - then turn up at events expecting to be serviced - they create, volunteer and are part of the events. This is something a lot of people in the dog world in Denmark could learn from! I believe I do my part in volunteering for my clubs ( NOA agility and the Border Collie Club ) and for the sports I participate in: freestyle, agility & rally-o. DO YOU ?

We have that this side of the pond.Zeeba's missed 2 weeks of agility already. Sure would hate to have to fly with "it". My sympathies.
