The week of the OEC - busy sorting, packing, organising, training. And working.
Chip had not been eating quite right over the weekend. He had been eating, but was only picking at his food, chewing each piece rather than wolfing the food down. I assumed that he was behaving this way as we had a bitch in season in the house. Wednesday eve on the way home from agility class I decided to give in on my principles ( eat if you are hungry ) and bought 2 packets of the yummiest cat food on the supermarket shelf. I got home, fed one of the packets to Chip and he ate it all in one go.
Next morning he was not looking well at all. He just stood looking at me with a glazed look. I called the vet and asked for an appointment straight away. I was thinking pancreatitis. The vet asked if he could have eaten a foreign object - "noooo" I replied. So we ran all the tests for pancreatitis and other blood work. I asked to get him on fluids until they knew what was going on. I went home, shook out the dog beds in the kitchen - and guess what I found....A regurgitated sock. WTF ??? I knew straight away that it came from Chip, called the vet and reported my find ( including the matching clean pair which was in the dryer ). The vet did an xray with a tracer to make sure there was nothing else that shouldnt be in there - and I agreed to leave him overnight on fluids. I think the cat food brought it up but by then we had done every test in the book !!!
Chip came out of his ordeal none the worse and I now own one of the most expensive socks on the planet.
