It was back in August Kickan and I decided to travel to Clicker Expo 2011. Kickan had also been to all the Bob Bailey Operant Conditioning courses ( Chicken Camp ) in Sweden and we have kept in touch since.
Kickan had never flown before so she travelled down by train from Stockholm on Monday night. I drove up to the airport to meet her and we came back to my house for a couple of hours - drinking tea and discussing dogs. At 4am we drove back to the airport ready for our adventure.
The flight to Amsterdam was short and at the airport we found a McD for a latte, found free internet (yes) and found the security for our flight to LA. The line was looooooong and we looked at each other, sighed and joined the end of the line. Three minutes later, a security lady opened a gate and pulled us through business security - and voila - we were through to the gate. The flight was great - service outstanding, a wide choice of movies on the personal screens and we had plenty of room on our seat row. The 11,5 hours actually passed quickly!
The first stop was immigration. This usually takes forever and the line when we stepped in it was anywhere between 1,5 - 2 hours long. 10 minutes later we had again been whisked out of the line and were in a VIP line :-D and half an hour later we were standing in the Los Angeles sun waiting for the shuttle bus to take us to the Car Rentals.
First stop was San Diego. We had booked a hotel through hotels.com and it looked a nice hotel ( and was a great hotel ). It took us about 4 hours to get there - rush hour traffic and a couple of accidents on the way made driving slow. We arrived at 7ish in the evening and were met by Iben and Henrik who had been in SD and were leaving the same evening. I went out for dinner with them and had a lovely evening - Kickan succumbed to jetlag and stayed at the hotel.
